Air-conditioned trains
As at December 2011, 71% of CityRail trains are fully air-conditioned. The number of air conditioned trains on the CityRail network will increase steadily over the next two years as we continue to roll out our new Waratah and Oscar fleet.
CityRail has been introducing new air conditioned Waratah carriages into service since July 2011 and further deliveries will increase the Waratah fleet to 626 cars.
Further deliveries of the air-conditioned Oscar trains on the outer suburban network will increase the Oscar fleet to 221 cars.

We have also achieved our target of having less than 0.5% of peak services cancelled or skipped, with 99.6% of peak services reaching their destinations and only 0.4% of services being skipped during the quarter to December 2011.

Security
Historical figures for BOCSAR (NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research) reported offences against persons per million passenger journeys have been adjusted to reflect downward revisions in previously reported RailCorp Patronage.
The reported number of offences against the person on rail premises per million passenger journeys was 8.4 for YTD September 2011 (reported three months in arrears). It was 9.0 in 2010/11 financial year (i.e. to June 2011) and 8.8 in the 2009/10 financial year.
A range of measures are in place to provide a safe and secure network for RailCorp customers and staff, including the provision of a high visibility presence on trains and stations with Transit Officers deployed on an intelligence basis. RailCorp continues to work in partnership with the NSW Police Force on these issues.
The statistics reported are a combination of crime statistics from BOCSAR and RailCorp passenger journey statistics. Crime statistics for the quarter ending December 2011 will be released by BOCSAR in mid April 2012. |
