Animals and pets
With the exception of the following, animals are not permitted to travel on CityRail services:
- assistance animals trained to assist passengers with a disability;
- assistance animals in training; and
- police dogs on duty or in training.
An assistance animal must:
- be trained (including in the use of public transport);

Passengers with assistance animals should use the wide gate at station barriers
and are solely responsible for the conduct, care, feeding and toileting of their
animal on trains and stations.
Guide dogs and hearing dogs registered as assistance animals in NSW, interstate
and overseas, are entitled to travel free with their handlers on all CityRail
and CountryLink services.
Handlers of assistance animals must have a valid ticket when travelling on
CityRail and CountryLink services.
A NSW Transport Authorities Hearing Dog Certificate can be used to identify
registered hearing dogs for travel on all RailCorp and State Transit Authority
services. These are available through RailCorp Passes and Concessions (phone
1300 302 130).
Applications to certify animals (other than registered guide dogs and hearing
dogs) as assistance animals for travel on the CityRail network are also available
through RailCorp Passes and Concessions.
