Other considerations
Travelling with mobility devices
The maximum size of a mobility aid (including wheelchairs and motor
scooters) that can be accommodated on CityRail trains and stations is 800mm
wide by 1300mm long. Scooters and wheelchairs require good stability and maneuverability
to safely travel on stations and trains. Passengers should position their aid
in the end vestibule in the space designated for wheelchairs on trains (where provided - see station facilities) and always apply the brakes on their mobility aid while travelling.
Please note that petrol driven devices are not allowed on CityRail stations
or trains. Passengers are responsible for storage of their mobility device prior
to and after travelling on CityRail services.
Only stations marked as wheelchair accessible and/or assisted access stations
provide level or ramped access suitable for passengers using a wheelchair or
scooter (see station facilities). Passengers are advised to check with CityRail staff
at their intended stations of boarding, interchange and destination to ensure
that the stations meet their access needs. CityRail staff are unable to lift
or carry passengers or their mobility aids, or attend to personal care of passengers on trains or stations.
If you need assistance of this kind, you are advised to travel with a friend
or carer.
Portable platform-to-train boarding ramps are the only safe means for passengers using
mobility aids to board a train. Portable boarding ramps are 800mm wide, have
a maximum load tolerance of 300kg, and are located on station platforms or Endeavour
trains.
Toilets
Toilets and wheelchair accessible toilets are available at selected stations - check your station/s in Station Facilities.
If toilets are locked for cleaning or general security, please see station staff
for access. Please note that toilets may be locked outside of station staffing
hours.
Some CityRail trains also have a toilet or wheelchair accessible toilet on board - see Your Train.
