Travelling to the airport

Getting to the airport has never been easier.
Catching a train is one of the fastest and best value ways for you to reach Sydney Airport from Sydney’s city and suburban stations.

On weekdays there are approximately six to eight services per hour from 6.00am until 9.00pm, and then four per hour until the last train. On weekends there are four services per hour. Services to the airport run from City Circle stations, Central Station and Airport & East Hills Line stations.

The journey time from Central to Domestic Airport Station is only 10 minutes and Central to International Airport Station is only 12 minutes. All City Circles stations offer you a direct service via the Airport Line, so travelling by train is the fastest way for you to reach the airport from the city.

Tickets
Your ticket to the airport stations can be purchased at any CityRail station.

As the airport stations are managed by Airport Link an access fee applies, however this fee is included in the ticket price.

Concession fares, group fares and tourist tickets can also be purchased from CityRail stations. Ask the station staff for advice on which ticket will offer you the best value. The Airport Link station access fee is additional to the base cost of these tickets.

Return tickets (two trips) allow you to travel to, and return from, one destination only. You have until 4.00am the next day to complete your travel.

Use our fare calculator to find out how much it will cost to get to your destination.

Access to stations and terminals
The airport stations are located inside the domestic and international terminals. You can reach the check-in desks within minutes of stepping off the train, using the escalators or lifts. Or, if you’ve just arrived, you can collect your baggage and go straight to your train.

Travelling with luggage
Trains have plenty of room for luggage in the end saloon areas near the entrance to each carriage.

Lifts are provided at both the domestic and international terminals, most City Circle stations (Central, Circular Quay, Wynard and Town Hall) and Wolli Creek for easy transfer of luggage.
