Day Tickets
Single tickets
If you travel occasionally with CityRail, single tickets are an inexpensive way to make a single trip to one destination only.
Return tickets
Of course, more often than not, you'll want to come home again. A return ticket (two trips) will take you where you want to go and back home again. Your return trip must be completed beforen 4.00am the next day.
Off-peak return tickets
If you're happy to leave after 9.00am (earlier in some outlying areas such as Katoomba), you can save up to 30 per cent with an Off-peak return ticket. You can also buy an Off-peak return ticket at any time on weekends and public holidays. Your return trip must be completed prior to 4.00am the next day. Please note one way Off-peak tickets are not available.
Child fares
A child is a person aged four years and over but under 16 years. Children pay no more than half the full adult fare. Infants under four travel free with an adult.
Child off-peak fares for point to point travel are also available.
Pensioners & seniors
These offer pensioners and senior citizens affordable and convenient transport at a low cost. They are available for people holding a Pensioner Concession Card or a NSW Seniors Card. Click here for more information.
Family fares
The Family Fare deal has been created to make it extremely affordable for families to see Sydney by public transport.
When at least one fare paying adult travels with their children or grandchildren, the first child travels for a child fare and the other children travel free. This includes DayTripper and CityHopper tickets.
Tickets to the city
There are eight stations in the city centre: Central, Town Hall, Wynyard, Circular Quay, St. James, Museum, Martin Place and Kings Cross. If you ask for a ticket to the city, your ticket will allow you to get off at any one of them. You can also return from any station in the city with a return ticket. For example, if your day starts at the Pitt Street Mall but finishes at the Opera House, you can get off the train at St James and back on again at Circular Quay station - perfect for those shopping days!
