Fare Evasion - it costs us all

fare evasion Be sure to buy a ticket before you travel. CityRail, Sydney Buses and Sydney Ferries staff and police can request to see your ticket and concession authority card at any time.

Travelling without a ticket or over-riding (travelling beyond those stations indicated on your purchased ticket), avoiding using the automatic gates or not carrying your concession card with you may incur an on-the-spot fine.

You must have a valid ticket before boarding a train. If both the station and ticket vending machines are closed or not operating you must purchase a ticket at your destination.

600 Transit Officers regularly patrol trains and stations and have the authority to issue on-the-spot fines. They also have powers of arrest and work closely with NSW Police.

So play fair by paying the fare, because now more than ever, getting caught is just a matter of time.
