  New peak service for the Western Line
  Tuesday 4 December 2007

CityRail is introducing a new weekday morning peak service between Quakers Hill and Central.

As part of CityRail’s commitment to provide additional services to customers on the Western Line, a new peak train service to the City will commence on Monday 10 December 2007.

This weekday service will depart Quakers Hill at 7.36am, terminating at Central at 8.29am.

CityRail is also pleased to advise that additional carriages will be added to the 7.51am Richmond to Central and the 4.40pm Central to Penrith services to alleviate peak-hour crowding.

The improving reliability of services since the introduction of the new timetable in 2005/2006 has seen 136,000 new customers choose to travel with CityRail every week and this new service is part of our long-term plan to meet increasing demand.

Our future initiatives include adding additional carriages to more peak hour services, and providing more new services across the network as Sydney’s latest state-of-the-art Oscar trains are progressively delivered.

Other future improvements to our services include:

  • New train services on the Illawarra, Campbelltown and Bankstown lines during the morning and evening peaks;
  • Building up four 6-car trains to 8-car trains to provide additional peak seating capacity between Campbelltown, Liverpool, Granville and the City;
  • Providing up to three additional trains to give a 30-minute frequency all day between Campbelltown, Glenfield, Liverpool, Parramatta and Blacktown;
  • Building up four existing 6-car trains to 8-car trains to provide extra seats between Chatswood, North Sydney, the City, Parramatta, Blacktown, Penrith and Richmond during the morning and evening peaks.
  • A new South Coast service between Kiama, Dapto, Wollongong and the City in the late morning as well as 430 extra seats on an existing 4-car evening peak service between the City, Wollongong and Port Kembla.

Your new Quakers Hill to Central service starts on Monday 10 December 2007.
