Epping to Chatswood rail link - special offer
Posted: Monday 23 February 2009 (updated 25 May 2009)
Until 8 June 2009, we're making travel free between Epping and Chatswood for customers using the stations on the Epping to Chatswood rail link.
Ticket gates and ticket vending machines at all of the new stations have now been switched on, so please make sure you have a green CityRail magnetic-stripe ticket to travel. Blue complimentary passes have been discontinued.
Holders of a valid 7 or 14 Day RailPass or FlexiPass who travel to one of the five rail link stations, need to use a complimentary green magnetic-stripe ticket until their ticket expires. Ask station staff at any of the five stations on the link for your ticket.
What type of ticket do I need?
Firstly, where are you travelling from? Find the option which applies to you and refer to the relevant table for some examples.
1. Travelling within the new link to one of the new stations or to Epping or Chatswood.
Simply ask station staff for a green ticket (replacing your blue complimentary pass if you held one). You'll be able to keep using this green ticket for unlimited travel on the link from now until
the end of the free travel period.

Anything else I need to know?
Prevent your ticket being damaged
We recommend you avoid it getting
scratched, creased or folded. Ask CityRail staff at stations on
the new link for your free plastic ticket wallet which will help keep your ticket in good condition.
TavelPasses valid in the Macquarie Park area
Please note that no fare-free portion applies to the price of your TravelPass as a result of the fare-free period, and so no refunds will be issued.
Purchasing a 7 or 14 Day RailPass from any of the new stations
You can purchase a 7 or 14 Day RailPass from any of the new stations to take advantage of the fare-free offer. Or you can purchase it at your regular destination point and you will only be charged for a RailPass to Epping or Chatswood (whichever is cheaper).
Travelling after 9.30pm
After the last train service on the new link, you will need to use your complimentary green CityRail magnetic ticket or valid CityRail ticket on State Transit buses (routes 545, 288 and 290).
Your ticket will be accepted by the bus driver if you board at a bus stop adjacent to Epping, Macquarie University, Macquarie Park, North Ryde or Chatswood stations, for travel between Epping and Chatswood only. Please call 131 500 or go to www.131500.com.au to check the bus timetable for your journey.
