Your guide to Sydney trains

For customers

The Epping to Chatswood rail link was integrated into the overall network from 11 October 2009.

Proposed network map with new Northern Line

The new timetable changed how the Northern Line operates, with four trains per hour from Hornsby to and from the City travelling via Macquarie Park and Chatswood instead of via Strathfield.

Phase one

The new rail link commenced operations as a shuttle service on 23 February 2009. In its initial phase, trains operated every 15 minutes in both directions between Epping and Chatswood on weekdays and weekends. The service stopped at Macquarie University, Macquarie Park and North Ryde.

Operating the train service between Epping and Chatswood only was necessary to refine the performance of the new link without causing any disruption to the wider CityRail network.

Using the service

Timetable information is available on this website so you can plan your trip to and via the new stations.

In order to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of the Epping to Chatswood rail link and the CityRail network, there will be some trackwork carried out during weekend periods. Please refer to the trackwork section for further information.
