South Line

Fairfield
The cosmopolitan nature of Fairfield is reflected in its restaurants.

  • Al-Dhiaffah Al-Iraqi Restaurant (13 The Crescent), spiced mutton and bread curry with tangy dried limes.
  • Lao Village (1 - 3 Anzac Ave) and Song Fang Khong (7 Anzac Ave) - serving great spicy salads and some unusual offal dishes.
  • Martinez Bros Deli Café (1/47 Spencer St) South American tradition with lots of meat, dished up in a fun, noisy environment.

Cabramatta and Canley Vale
Vietnamese is spreading from its hub in Cabramatta to Canley Vale just one station away.

  • Bach Dang (46 Canley Vale Rd) crisp-skin cinnamon chicken and pippis in XO sauce.
  • Tan Viet Noodle House (100 John St) specialises in chicken dishes but, surprisingly, doesn't serve pho.
  • Pho Tau Bay (12 Hill St) and Pho 54 (2/54 Park Rd), national noodle soup dish, done well.
  • A My Thuan (117a John St) Chinese influences and much appreciated hotpots.

Liverpool
Make sure you get off the train at Liverpool to experience masala, the backbone of classical Indian cooking.

  • Woodland's Family Restaurant (238 George St) glorious masala dosai and other delectable Indian vegetarian dishes. Once you’ve been here, you'll understand why some of their customers come from as far afield as Canberra.
