Western Line

Auburn
The place to go if you crave Turkish food at great prices.

  • Mado Cafe (63 Auburn Rd) great homestyle dishes and stretchy maras ice cream.
  • Vatan (65 Auburn Rd) kebabs and slow cooked lamb dishes, popular for Sunday brunch.
  • Bundu Khan (121 Auburn Rd) mix of traditional and modern Pakistani cooking.

Parramatta
One of Sydney’s oldest established suburbs has a few very decent eateries.

  • Temasek (Roxy Arcade, 71 George St) nasi lemak and Hainan chicken.
  • Parra Gardens (325 Church St) authentic Korean with a karaoke room.
  • El Phoenician (316 Church St) vegetarian dishes and meat kebabs.
  • Ray & Lou's Cafe Grill (293 Church St) for a seriously good steak (certified Australian Angus beef).
  • Courtney's (2 Horwood Pl) popular brassiere serving modern Australian cooking.
  • Sahra (Shop 2, 76 Phillip St) new generation Lebanese restaurant overlooking the river.
  • Flavour of Ceylon (Shop 2, 20 - 22 Macquarie St) great value lunch specials, or a la carte at night.

Seven Hills
Get off the train at Seven Hills for some eastern delights.

  • Curry Leaf (47 Boomerang Pl) beach resort feel and great value Sri Lankan cooking.
  • Indo Lankan Food Bar (59 - 61 Boomerang Pl) authentic curries and monthly Sunday seafood platter specials.

Blacktown
One stop further west at Blacktown and you are still under the Indian influence.

  • Blacktown is home to Indian Tandoor (10 Tulloch St), a welcoming, family-run restaurant famous for its royal banquets.
  • Stepping outside the predictable Indian square, and pulling it off, is Tribeni (2/32 Flushcombe Rd). They've even opted for live Indian music on weekends instead of plasma screen TVs!
