Follow the Safety Trail is a primary school video package developed by RailCorp in partnership with Department of Education. It is designed to assist teachers educating stage one school students in safe rail travel behaviours. However, the content and safety messages are suitable for review in all primary school grades.
The package is a valuable tool for all primary school teachers as a support resource for the 'Safe Living' strand of the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education syllabus. Follow the Safety Trail is also a support resource for the Stage 1 Human Society and Its Environment syllabus support module 'Transport'.
The rail safety messages and learning experiences outlined in the booklet accompanying the video are intended as a stimulus for many extensive class lessons. Additional activities and information may also be found online at www.trackingtrains.com.au.
Follow the Safety Trail was despatched to all NSW Primary Schools in February 2004.
Follow the Safety Trail is very beneficial when used prior to a school excursion involving rail or ferry transport.
