A TravelPass gets you around suburban Sydney or Newcastle using a combination of train, bus and ferry services. The pass allows unlimited trips within particular zones on a weekly, quarterly or yearly basis.

Train, bus and ferry TravelPasses

Red TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on CityRail services in the area bounded by Bondi Junction, Rockdale, Bardwell Park, Canterbury, Croydon and Chatswood stations.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Buses services in the red area - zones 1, 3, 6 and 7.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Ferries inner harbour services (the inner harbour includes all wharves except Manly, beyond Meadowbank).
  • Excludes other services as specified below.

Green TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on CityRail services in the area bounded by Bondi Junction, Kogarah, Kingsgrove, Regents Park, Bankstown (via Lidcombe or Sydenham), Epping, Chatswood and Olympic Park stations.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Buses services in the red and green areas - zones 1 to 8.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Ferries services.
  • Excludes other services as specified below.

Yellow TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on CityRail services in the area bounded by Bondi Junction, Waitara (via North Sydney), Epping (via North Strathfield), Camellia, Parramatta, Chester Hill, Panania, Jannali and Olympic Park stations.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Buses services in the red and green areas - zones 1 to 8.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Ferries services.
  • Excludes other services as specified below.

Pink TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on CityRail services in the area bounded by Bondi Junction, Hornsby (via Epping or North Sydney), Carlingford, Seven Hills, Liverpool, Holsworthy (via East Hills), Engadine, Caringbah and Olympic Park stations.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Buses services in the red and green areas - zones 1 to 8.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Ferries services.
  • Excludes other services as specified below.

Purple TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on CityRail services in the area bounded by Bondi Junction, Cowan, Carlingford, Richmond, Emu Plains, Macarthur, Otford and Cronulla stations.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Buses services in the red, green and purple areas - all zones.
  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Ferries services.
  • Excludes other services as specified below.

Newcastle TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on CityRail services in the area bounded by Telarah, Newcastle, Toronto and Awaba stations.
  • Unlimited travel on Newcastle Buses services within the Newcastle suburban area (except on sporting bus services).
  • Unlimited travel on Newcastle Ferries services.
  • Excludes CountryLink road coach services that cross the Newcastle suburban area.
  • Excludes other services as specified below.

Bus and ferry TravelPasses

Blue TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Buses services in the red area - zones 1, 3, 6 and 7.

2 Zone TravelPass

  • Unlimited travel on Sydney Buses services in any of the following two adjacent zones:
    2 & 3, 3 & 4, 4 & 5, 4 & 6, 5 & 6, 2 & 11 (Pittwater).
  • 2 Zone TravelPass is not valid in zone 1.
  • Excludes other services as specified below.

Where to buy

TravelPasses are available from suburban CityRail ticket offices, selected Sydney Buses TransitShops, Sydney Ferries ticket outlets and at selected newsagents, 7-Eleven and convenience stores.

Pittwater and 2 Zone TravelPasses are only available from Sydney Buses TransitShops or selected ticket resellers.

To purchase a quarterly or yearly TravelPass, you will need to fill out an application form and take it to any CityRail ticket office.

Tickets become active when first used, except those purchased from CityRail and Sydney Ferries outlets, which are active upon purchase. If a ticket is first activated after 3.00pm the expiry date is the current date plus seven days and tickets are valid until 4.00am the morning after the expiry date.

TravelPass limitations

Although your TravelPass will allow you to travel on most modes of public transport, there are some exceptions. Your TravelPass:

  • Cannot be used on the Sydney Explorer, Bondi Explorer, Sydney Ferries Heritage Cruises, special event services or private bus company services.
  • Cannot be used to enter or exit Green Square, Mascot, Domestic Airport and International Airport stations. A Gate Pass can be purchased from any of these stations.
  • Is non-transferable. Only weekly TravelPasses are available at concession fares.
