Save even more with a longer-life ticket

If you normally buy a weekly, fortnightly or monthly ticket, you're already enjoying discounts of around 20% depending on your travel pattern. But did you know you can save even more with a quarterly or yearly ticket?

A quarterly (90-day) MyTrain ticket gives you the equivalent of approximately three free weeklies. A yearly (365-day) ticket gives you the equivalent of approximately twelve free weeklies.

Plus, when you buy your MyTrain ticket online, you'll avoid the queues at the station - and your ticket is registered automatically.

Getting the most out of your ticket

  • Get more travel for the same fare: when choosing your ticket destination, consider selecting the station at the end of your fare band. You can find the distances between stations on the CityRail fare calculator.
  • Buy your monthly, quarterly and yearly ticket after 3.00pm to get travel for the rest of the day in addition to the ticket's normal 28, 90 or 365 day duration.
  • If your journey is 65 kilometres or more, you can get unlimited travel throughout Greater Sydney with a MyMulti3 ticket - for around the same price as a monthly, quarterly or yearly MyTrain.
  • If you change jobs or move house, simply request a refund at CityRail Tickets Online. Fees apply.
  • Your ticket is valuable. Register your ticket at CityRail Tickets Online so it can easily be replaced if it's lost or stolen. Tickets purchased online are registered automatically.

Child and concession fares

Concession monthly, quarterly and yearly MyTrain tickets are available to children aged 4 to 15 years (inclusive), students and pensioners. Children aged 3 and under travel free. Find out more about concession fares.

Where to buy

Monthly, quarterly and yearly MyTrain tickets are available from CityRail Tickets Online and station ticket offices.

Airport stations

A station access fee applies at International Airport and Domestic Airport. If your MyTrain ticket shows International Airport or Domestic Airport as the origin or destination, the access fee is included in the cost of the ticket. If your ticket does not include the access fee, simply buy a GatePass when you enter or exit at these stations.

Travel restrictions

  • Break of journey is permitted on approved routes of travel only. For more information on approved routes of travel, see the CityRail passenger fares and coaching rates handbook.
  • Monthly, quarterly and yearly MyTrain tickets are not available for travel to or from stops on the Bathurst to Lithgow bus service.
  • Monthly, quarterly and yearly MyTrain tickets purchased at CityRail stations commence on the date of purchase. Tickets purchased after 3.00pm are valid for the rest of the day in addition to the ticket's normal 28, 90 or 365 day duration. You may specify a future commencement date by purchasing tickets online.
