Student responsibilities
In order to retain your free school rail pass, all students are to behave in a manner that ensures both your comfort and safety and that of other passengers:
When waiting for the train, stand well behind the yellow line on the platform.- Make sure your school backpack is not over the yellow line even if your body is well clear.
- Mind the gap between the train and the platform when boarding or getting off the train.
- You should only cross the train tracks via a footbridge, underpass or at a designated pedestrian crossing. Crossing the tracks is dangerous and illegal. The current penalty is up to $5,500.
- Please don't push fellow passengers or run on the platform.
- Please don't leave your school bag in the way of other passengers, either on the platform or the train. On the train, please don't obstruct the doors, stairs or aisles.
- Inline skating, skateboarding and bike riding are not permitted on the platform.
- If you drop something on the tracks, never jump down on the tracks to retrieve it. Ask a station staff member to help you.
- Do not put any part of your body outside the train or hold the doors open when they are closing.
- Students should not change carriages while the train is moving.
- If you see something unsafe, don't be afraid to speak up and tell a staff member.
- Please offer your seat to other passengers particularly those who are elderly, pregnant or have a disability.
- Ask station staff or the train guard if you are unsure or confused about what to do or where to go on your journey.
